The term "Stachus" was the name of a restaurant that was in operation here in the 18th century.
The innkeeper, "Mathias Eustachius Föderl" was the namesake.
The Karlstor on Karlsplatz Stachus
The Karlstor on Karlsplatz, named after the Elector Karl Theodor, was built in the 13th century and was still called "Neuhauser Tor" until the end of the 18th century.
It is one of the last three remaining city gates in Munich and today forms the entrance to the shopping mile in the pedestrian zone.
