The Frauenkirche Munich
The Gothic Church is the famous symbol of the city of Munich.
Its real name is "Chathedral of our Dear Lady".
It was built from 1468 to 1488.
The almost 100 meters high towers got their domes but only in 1525 and are modeled on the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem.



Inside Frauenkirche
Inside the church you can see the size of the building. There is room for up to 20,000 people here. The design and the light play of the windows create a unique atmosphere.
Opening hours:
During summer time:
Mo. - So. 7.30am to 8.30pm
Sa. - So. 10am to 6.30pm
During winter time the church close at 8.00pm
--> The towers of the Frauenkirche are currently completely closed because of construction measures. <--



The Crypt and Kings
There is also a crypt with tombs of christian dignitaries, important personalities of Munich and regents.
As for example many Wittelsbachers from the Emperor Ludwig the Bavarian to the last Bavarian King Ludwig the Third.III.


The Frauenkirche Munich and the Devil
In the entrance hall you will discover a footprint.
According to a legend, this one comes from the devil, who lost a bet against the builder of the church and stamped it so hard that he left that footprint here.

Next to the church is the so-called water mushroom fountain.
A perfect place to rest on the steps in the shade.
